About Dr. Aenne Grannis
School, Child & Clinical Psychologist | Parent Coach | 20+ Years of Experience

Professional Background
Dr. Aenne holds a Doctorate in School, Child, and Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Albert Einstein/Yeshiva University and a Master's degree in School Psychology from Brooklyn College.
With 20 years of professional experience in school psychology, including psycho-educational evaluations, play therapy, and consultation, she has worked with thousands of children. Her long-standing involvement in the region informs her insights into the school systems, local contingencies, and most effective strategies for addressing educational needs in Columbia, Greene, Ulster, Westchester, and Dutchess counties.

Why Parent Coaching?
Over the years, Dr. Aenne came to believe that focusing solely on children wasn't enough to transform their lives. She began her coaching practice due to her belief that a child's environment and the parenting they receive are crucial for development.
Dr. Aenne believes that as children are embedded within the family system, working with the entire system is necessary for positive and lasting change.
She has observed and worked in many of the schools and daycare centers in the region and knows the agencies, service providers, developmental pediatricians, neurologists, and primary care providers. She can evaluate the varying school cultures, both private and public, to suggest strategies for navigating the system.

A Unique Personal Perspective
Dr. Aenne's personal experience informs her pragmatic coaching approach:
Rural & Urban Transitions: Originally from Germany, she moved with her family from New York City to the Hudson Valley.
Diverse Family Dynamics: As the mother of four children, she has experience raising both adopted and biological children within a binational and biracial family.
Educational Flexibility: Her children have attended private schools, public schools, and years of homeschooling. Her older children graduated from a local public high school with International Baccalaureate degrees and went on to Columbia and Cornell Universities.
Farm Life: Dr. Aenne lives with her family on a working farm in Columbia County near Hudson, NY.
